Oy Vey, Levi’s
Is Diversity True Diversity When It’s Fake?
Okay, so basically, Levi’s says it is going to “experiment†with AI models to “…diversify the iconic company’s online shopping experience.†Bull-Fucking-Shit.
Where I’m sitting right now I can see about 20 people that Levi’s could put in their ads, or dress in their clothes in their online stores. These folks are normal, everyday folks. They have jiggly asses and FUPAs, pretty hair, short legs and crappy fashion sense. They also have glorious eyeglasses or outer coats, dull skin, mullet’s and resting bitch faces. In other words, they are part of the millions and millions of normal people out there in the world. People that, according to Levi’s, don’t represent ‘diversity’. Rather, it’s more than likely that they don’t represent the diversity that Levi’s wants.
Which begs the question, what type of diversity is Levi’s having a hard time finding?Oh, and who is going to determine what the AI models look like? And who is going to make the final call about which fake models are going to show up online or in ads? And, what business objective are they trying to meet and how are they going to measure it? You know, so so that all of us out here in Normalville can tell if this is just a stunt or not—a way to jump on the AI-train. Did they spend 3-years and a ton of money like Old Navy to map a bunch of different body sizes to create their AI models out of? Did they look at Fenty to find all of the skin colors for their AI models to have? Are they going to create more than one differently capable (physically and intellectually) people? Are they all going to be some version of pretty/striking/unusual? Is the language they are going to use diversified as well?
Whatever. I could go on and on and one but I’d rather let a couple of pictures tell the tale. Here is the headline (from People magazine), and here is the picture for Levi’s.

Yup. Really looking forward to Levi’s defining ‘diversity’ for us.
